Weird.... I just had a flashback of walking down Lansdowne Avenue with an ex from long ago. It was around Christmas time, perhaps Christmas Eve; and it was so quiet, so still, with a brisk chill in the air. We were lit by Christmas lights adorning the houses and the streetlamps above. It was so peaceful in that moment. I've not known a moment like that since.

I really do dwell on the past a lot.

It's Bold Day

It's Election Day

So, duh, it's election day. I'm not going to tell you to vote, you already know what to do. As someone said recently, if you choose not to vote, then that IS your vote. I chose not to vote every year prior to this year. But I was inspired this year and I see a real chance for change.

Yes, I'm voting for Obama. And while I hope you do too, I'm more interested that you feel compelled enough to be involved. So if you did vote or will vote later today, then congratulations and my personal thanks goes out to you for being involved.

Now, to the McCain supporters out there, I also hope you voted. I really hope that if Obama wins, you'll give the guy a fair chance and I have a very good feeling you'll be pleasantly surprised at how this country will begin to re-enter a peaceful and happy time. For a man with so many things going against him to be in the position he is really speaks volumes. No con-man could fool over half the USA. He's not conning anyone, he's not spewing some nightmarish plans for us. He's embodying a hell of a lot of people and our feelings. This is important. If he's as outrageous as some of you make him out to be, then half the nation is just as outrageous.

It's been 10 days since Circuit Theory "broke up" and played their last show.

It's been 4 days since I witnessed a woman crossing the street get struck by a speeding car, who never stopped. Kinda having a hard time getting that out of my head.

Thursday will mark one month since my grandmother's death.

I've been thinking lately about people in my past. I've been thinking about how we can have people play such integral roles in our lives; to be friends and/or lovers with someone for whatever amount of time and then just separate like a split cell to go in totally different directions, never looking back. It's kind of amazing that we work like that, y'know? We can walk past someone in the mall that we went to high school with and not even nod. We can live within a mile of an old flame and never acknowledge each others existence.

I look back a lot. I mean A LOT. And I'm left wondering if others are looking back, too, thinking about me, and we both continue on figuring the other is not interested in catching up. Or is it that I am broken in some way because of how I am not able to just not look back?

It does depends on the situation, though. There are some that I never think about that I might be expected to. But not many.

So what if we were struck by a car? What if our lives ended without re-connecting with those who were so important to us in the past? It may not make much of a difference but unless we make efforts, we risk never being able to say "Thank you. You were good to me." or "I'm sorry."

Obama's In Abington Tomorrow

So, Barack Obama will be in Abington tomorrow. And me, being the working man that I am, cannot be there... even though it's only a few minutes down the road. Is it reasonable to leave work for such an important non-life-threatening reason? But then, how important is it? I mean.... I've already made up my mind that I'm voting for him. It's not like seeing him speak and possibly being in the lined up crowd to shake his hand will do anything but make me like him more. On the other hand, this may be the only chance in my lifetime to see in person the first guy to really give me hope for this country; perhaps get the opportunity to take 5 seconds of his time to tell him that as he passes through. All that aside, he's going to be remembered forever. As long as there is a country known as The United States of America, he will be known as one of those stand-out people, regardless of whether he wins or not (and goddammit, he'd better!!!).

Hmmph.

Anyhow, I can't wait for these debates tonight. When I think about it, I imagine midway through the thing when Sarah Palin's trying to non-answer a question again and the moderator just not allowing it anymore, pressuring her into answering it, and watching her just break down in tears running off the stage. Ohhh, I know it could probably never happen, but I can still hope. Did you see her Facebook page, by the way? VERY funny.

Followups and Sarah Palin Rant

1. Grandmom's on the verge.... probably won't be much longer. I went to see her today, not that she will remember due to the morphine.
2. I'll be going back to work tomorrow.
3. The alarm clock watch I bought doesn't work for me. Will be returning.

4. Why didn't anyone tell me I could still register for this election??? Information I received earlier in the year led me to believe if I wasn't registered for the primaries, I couldn't vote in the general election. But I can! So I filled out my registration form and will be eligible to help vote Barack Obama in.

This stupid election is way too close for comfort and it's all because people are so blinded by Palin's American Idol nomination. Look, it's America and it's great that we are all able to become president or vp. It's one thing about our country that's pretty cool. But just because "ANYBODY" can be it doesn't entitle any ol' person to be it. Come ON!

I mean, let's erase the gender here and ask yourselves who'd be better suited for this job: The CEO of a Fortune 500 company or your kid's elementary school gym teacher? The District Attorney or the guy who just sliced your cold cuts at the deli?

Now, I'm not comparing Palin to a high school gym teacher or a deli clerk. I'm simply saying not EVERYONE should be viewed as someone who should be put in The White House.

By the way, she believes in Creationism. 'Nuff said. But if that wasn't enough, here are a couple other reminders of how Sarah Palin prefers to think: Dinosaurs didn't exist, the Earth is less than 10,000 years old, and if the love of your life gets raped, if Palin had her way, your love would not even have the option to CHOOSE to continue to have that baby or not. But hey, she's entitled to her opinion. If only there was some assurance she wouldn't (o)press her opinions onto us in the form of laws. Hmmmm... No, there's no assurance of that. Get away from me, crazy lady; you and your gimpy, old, robotic dad--- errr, I mean running-mate.

Soooo... Monday is my surgery for the removal of my gall-bladder and well, I couldn't care less. I guess I've got bigger things on my mind. But moreso, the whole thing's just been a huge inconvenience leading up to now. Aside from the cripping stomach aches the stone would give me and the ER trip which made me miss a day, I've had to intterupt my work day 6 times in the last 7 weeks to see doctors or get tests done. Gimme a break.

So here we go again, another year's vacation time used up by sitting at home recovering from something. And next year's out of the question, too, if I'll indeed be out 8 weeks or so due to the possible heart surgery.

Anyway, this little thing on Monday isn't scaring me at all. I am looking forward to a little time to myself and hopefully I'll be well enough to sneak away for something.

Oh - and this cancer scare with my grandmom... the tests will be back tomorrow I think. If it turns out it's cancer, it will be the first instance of cancer in my family that I know of. Pretty weird and interested in that respect.

Beginning pre-op procedures for surgery in 2 weeks to get gall-bladder out.
Mom's in the hospital now for unexplained stomach pain. Going to visit her now.
Got told I need to get to The Cleveland Clinic for examination ASAP.
Was also informed I should probably look into heart surgery to be done this coming spring.

How, what? Ugh....

Lights, Camera, LEGAL ACTION

any of you know of my troubles with an ex-girlfriend of mine. If you'll take a moment to read a comment she left me this evening.

The comment is basically a legal definition of libel and how it applies to internet publications. You'll note the final sentance reads: "so i suggest you remove this link and page before i proceed to take action"

Apparently she missed the part where it says: "Truth is an absolute defense to libel or slander. No matter how malicious, how ugly the claim, if it's true, our system of justice says that the writer is permitted to state it as a fact, and there's no consequence." Apparently, in her mind she forgets that I can easily bring in any of the people she worked with to back up my accusations. And perhaps she forgets I also can bring in my roommate to defend them, too.

What she may have remembered, though, was that I foolishly allowed her to have her journal back which would have been solid, unbiased evidence of her lies had I kept it in my possession.

Funny how she's naive enough to do numerous things to fuck up her life but she'll step up and take legal action on someone who's telling the truth about her and trying to warn others not to fall for her facade.

Here's the deal, sweetie. I'm not scared of your threat. I know who's right and I've got a handful of others who can back me up. You've got nothing but your own word. But since you've already found your next person, I figure my attempts at warning others have fallen flat. So... since it's obvious I can't help the innocent, I might as well take down the link and page, since after all, that was my only reason for posting it.

Little Miss Legal Action, you were fun at times, but I hope I'm given the priveledge of witnessing your karma coming back at you just so I know you finally got what you deserve.

Gross Things

'm sitting here this evening with a hole in my back. See, I had a cyst removed this afternoon. It had to be carved out of me and filled with gauze. I'm in a bit of pain. I can only hope that when I wake up it will remain at this uncomfortable level but not higher. Gross.

There's a fraud issue within Cingular Wireless and I'm one of the many affected. Someone was able to order a new phone once they called in and verified my name and last 4 digits of my social. This is no good. I just discovered it tonight, so I'll be working on that tomorrow. Whoever did this was not after a new phone. I'm fairly certain they wanted my address in addition to what they already had on me. And they got it while they changed my address to somewhere in Brooklyn. I hope this is not the start of something real big. Sucks.

My show last Thursday was ok. The venue provided many disappointments but supposedly people enjoyed our music. If you were there, feel free to let me know how you really felt. Many people didn't show up that I expected not to show up, but I kinda hoped you would. (pictures from the show available in the Media section of www.circuittheorymusic.com)

I've apparently lost something that I really didn't want to. Not at all. I appear to be living a bit of a nightmare. Is it my own fault? Some of it, maybe. But I've done nothing to deserve such cruel fate... fate which is stuck in a revolving door. Must I lie to end the cycle? This lonely heart of mine is like a house that's haunted by a ghost who doesn't live here but who's threat scares off everyone else from moving in. What do I do? This is rediculous. This sucks. This is grossly rediculous. Can't you see what kind of hell I'm in because of this?

And the ghost says "Go ahead. Let them move in. I want you to be happy. I am not there. I won't be there."

And the tenants say "That ghost, I cannot compete with. I am scared of that ghost."

But the ghost is not there. And she will be sad she's scared off such good tenants and happiness from the house. And the tenants will feel sad they cannot live there and for a moment they'll feel guilty, but they'll remain confident in their choice. And my lonely house remains vacant as another few boards are nailed over the windows, despite the beautiful interior and convenient marble-top island in the kitchen which everyone loves. Does any of this make sense to anyone?

Someone's gotta change. Someone's gotta take a fucking risk once in awhile, because this revolving door keeps kicking me in the ass.

Haircuttery Sucks

lthough the people there are typically very nice and friendly, it is my theory that they are taught a handful of current styles and depending on what you tell them, they default to the closest style they know.

Let me give you an example!

My last 10 cuts or so were all unsuccessful attempts at getting something different from the "short on sides/back, little longer on top" cut. But I keep brushing it off. So, I walk in last evening after letting my hair grow out again a little. My bangs were passing the 3" length and down to my eyebrows. I was asked what I want and explained I wanted to keep this length on top. If anything, to trim it but no more than a half inch. The rest can get clipped to #3. She says "Sounds good!" and begins to cut.

During the cutting she asked when the last time I had it cut was. I tell her something like 5 or 6 weeks ago. "mmm hmmm." she says. And she cuts and cuts and it keeps getting shorter and shorter. By the end of it, my hair looks exactly like it did the last time I got it cut. A #3 clip length around the sides and back -- and about an inch long on top.

What the hell am I supposed to do with hair this short? I really was in need of a good-looking cut for my upcoming show. How could I have been more explicit? Next time I'm just going to have to be aggressive and VERY explicit in saying EXACTLY what I want. But still, like I said, it's like she figured I didn't know what I wanted and cut it to what she THOUGHT I wanted and what closest resembles a current style. God forbid I want something a bit customized.

Can anyone recommend a good and inexpensive barber in the delaware county area? This is horrible. I haven't had a haircut I really liked in YEARS. And this is especially maddening because I really wanted a good cut for this show next week.
