I borrowed a digital camcorder from Liz so I can record some of the stuff I’ve been playing over the past few years. I’ve really only come up with one song that still is considered unfinished. But I do cover Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” and then this weekend I came up with another new song! So even though they’re not the best performances and surely not the best recordings, I’ve redesigned the Music page and added the new stuff as well as the karaoke tracks. The redesign should make for much more convenient browsing around. Hope you like it! *sigh* But don’t be surprised if I break down and re-record some of the new songs again.

So, like, Merry Christmas and stuff.

Here’s hoping we all get what we need.

HEY! Listen up, kids.

Kurt Vile is having a CD release party Monday, 12/27 at The Point in Bryn Mawr. He’s put out a couple records over the past two years, ones that I haven’t even gotten a chance to get yet. But this is his newest release and everyone’s pushing for a big crowd. With it, I’m sure he’ll have an easier time booking there more often. And we want him to be booked there more often. Ok?

So go and bring a few friends and tell them to bring a few of their friends. I’ll be there and it will be a fantastic time, I’m sure.

WHO: Kurt Vile

WHERE: The Point (www.pointentertainment.com)

WHEN: Monday, 12/27/04 * 7pm

HOW: With $7 to get you in.

*extra info: The Point is BYOB for an additional $5 at the door. It’s been named the best place to hear live music for 4 years straight according to citisearch.com

See you there!

I feel I should document, just in case, a strange experience I had yesterday when I had a temporary loss of central vision in my left eye. I’ve never quite experienced anything like this. I’ve had floaters and blurriness surely caused from sleep deficiency and when I stand up too fast — definitely not an optically rooted problem. But this… I was sitting here playing GTA, calm as can be, and BOOM! I saw what is commonly reported by those suffering from macular degeneration:

But that is known as an age related disease. Besides, it only lasted a couple minutes before it slowly faded away. If it happens again, I may consider looking into it.

An artist I admire and support is one whose name I’ve mentioned but one time prior, over a year ago, while working a short stint at George’s Music while talking to a co-worker about this girl I saw perform on Conan O’Brian’s show. Her name is Kaki King. She plays her Ovation guitar like a drum set, by tapping on it, essentially playing a song full of harmonics. To listen to her is pleasant but to watch her is amazing. I see I just missed a show at The Tin Angel the other day but I am going to try and remember to get back there for her February shows. Playing February 3rd, 10th, and 17th, you might think she’s local but NY wouldn’t be considered local.

So this is my little way of supporting an artist worth it. Go check her out.

My position at Aetna has been terminated.

note to self: It’s bery bery humiliating to be escorted out upon termination of a job so undemanding.

Just so you all know, it’s due to being late/absent too many times. You can blame a lot of that on my father. But don’t be too hard on him, though, he couldn’t help dying. I’m fully able to take responsibility for the things I do wrong but seriously, I’m not perfect and there was only a handful of times I had truly faulted. The rest were beyond my control and so whatever. They don’t want excuse. They want their little robots answering the phones and doing nothing more than answering the question presented to them.

I went in there with the intent to make a difference. Change things. They shot me down like I was Godzilla. You can’t reason with ignorance. You can’t change the mind of someone who’s lost their human being characteristics.

I was late Monday morning. I won’t know anything until next week or this Friday at the earliest. It’s frustrating, you know, when you wake up in silence with all three of your alarms turned off and you don’t remember even opening your eyes prior to this second. It’s really frustrating.

I’ve added a new karaoke MP3 to the list: John Lennon’s Imagine.

I’ve always liked the song. Even used to perform it years ago, before I had an audience. But now that A Perfect Circle has brought it back up in a new light, I’ve fallen in love with it again. So I’ve been doing it when out at the karaoke bars.

This recording also features a slightly obnoxious crowd so I apologize for that. This wasn’t my best performance but it’s one of the better ones so I don’t mind sharing it.
